No ice at all
Why is my Sub-Zero not making ice?
An empty bin nearly always means the fill never happened, not that the module burned out. Sub-Zero's own opening checks are that the ice maker is switched on, that the shut-off arm sits in its down position, and that the freezer is at or below 5°F. Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts then works the water path forward: house valve, cartridge, inlet screen, valve.
Pattern
What we usually find
- The ice maker switched off at the control and never switched back on, usually after a bin came out for a party. Sub-Zero points out that switching it off leaves the water supply on.
- A shut-off arm resting out of its down position, or a bin that never went fully home, so a machine in perfect order reads a full bin and waits.
- A freezer running warmer than the 5°F Sub-Zero asks for, which holds the harvest back because the mould never finishes freezing.
- A fill that cannot arrive: a house valve left part-closed after other work, a cartridge long past its monitor, scale across the inlet screen.
Most often first. Order comes from what the visits keep turning up, not from a count.
Why the module is suspected last
A head unit that has genuinely died is uncommon beside the many ways a fill gets interrupted, and it is the one component nobody can judge from the kitchen. Everything ahead of it can be: a switch, an arm, a bin, a handle, a cartridge.
When the waiting is over
Sub-Zero asks for twenty-four hours of ice production after a start-up. Once that day has gone by with the compartment cold, the arm down and the supply open, the fault is real and it is measurable at the unit.
Before you call
Two minutes, before anyone comes out
- Open the door and confirm the ice maker itself is switched on, not just the cabinet.
- Draw the bin out, lift away any cube jammed at the mould, and slide it back square.
- Allow a full day from switch-on before an empty bin counts as a fault.
Stop there. If that has not settled it by the next morning, call Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts on (720) 903-2603 and the rest of the water path gets traced with a meter.
