No ice at all
Why did the ice stop after I changed the filter?
A cartridge sitting in its manifold without being fully seated is the usual reason ice stops on the day a filter was changed. Sub-Zero's twist-in fitting turns clockwise until the filter is seated, and it gives no click to tell you when. Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts also expects air in the line for the first few cycles afterwards.
Pattern
What we usually find
- A cartridge twisted in but not driven home. Nothing clicks, and a little movement afterwards is normal, so a half-fitted one feels finished to the hand.
- Air pushed along the line by the change itself, which shortens the next several fills and turns out hollow or misshapen cubes before it clears.
- A cartridge that is not the right one for the manifold. It starts to turn, then stands proud, and the flow behind it is throttled from that moment.
- A housing that had been weeping for a while and only declares itself once the old cartridge is out and the seal has been disturbed.
Most often first. Order comes from what the visits keep turning up, not from a count.
What seated actually feels like
Sub-Zero describes the cartridge as seated rather than clicked, and says a slight movement afterwards is normal — which is precisely why owners stop turning too soon. Snug and still is the target; force is not.
When the fault is the fitting
If water is showing at the manifold instead of the mould, or the old cartridge had to be fought out, the housing it twists into is the suspect. A second new cartridge will change nothing at all.
Before you call
Two minutes, before anyone comes out
- Turn the new cartridge clockwise again until it will not move, then leave it be.
- Tip out the first full bucket of cubes rather than putting them in a drink.
- Give it a full day before deciding the change is what stopped the ice.
