No ice at all
Why does it make ice some days and not others?
A machine that works one day and sulks the next is seldom broken in the ordinary sense: something feeding it changes through the day. Sub-Zero's pressure requirement is model-dependent, with a floor of 20 psi on some units and 35 psi on others, and a feed that barely reaches its floor will not reach it at every hour. Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts begins there.
Pattern
What we usually find
- House pressure that drops when irrigation runs, a softener regenerates or a second bathroom draws on the same feed at the same time of day.
- An inlet valve gone marginal rather than dead: it opens obediently on a good day and hesitates on a poor one.
- A compartment that drifts warm while the kitchen is busy, so on some evenings the mould never gets cold enough to release.
- A shut-off left part-closed, which turns an adequate supply into one that only just copes and fails on the bad days.
Most often first. Order comes from what the visits keep turning up, not from a count.
Measuring instead of guessing
Two identical tests at different hours turn a hunch into evidence, and the gap between the two readings is most of the diagnosis. Sub-Zero offers no tool or procedure for confirming pressure and sends owners to a plumber, which is why the reading taken at the back of the cabinet is worth having first.
Why the head unit comes last here
A module that fails does not recover overnight; it stays failed. Behaviour that varies points at something else that varies, and in this path only the water and the temperature do.
Before you call
Two minutes, before anyone comes out
- Run the same three-hour bin test twice, once early and once in the evening.
- See that the shut-off handle is fully open and nothing behind the unit has nudged it.
- Follow the visible length of line for a kink where it leaves the wall.
Stop there. If that has not settled it by the next morning, call Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts on (720) 903-2603 and the rest of the water path gets traced with a meter.
