The line, the valve and the pressure

Could the line have kinked when the unit was pushed back?

Yes, and it is worth ruling out before anything is tested electrically. A quarter-inch line takes a permanent set where it folds, and a fold that only half closes the bore still starves the fill. Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts brings the cabinet forward and looks at the tubing before laying a meter on the valve.

Pattern

What we usually find

  1. A coil of spare line crushed flat against the back wall. Sub-Zero's undercounter ice maker installation guide asks for three feet of excess line at the connection, and that slack has to go somewhere.
  2. A soft fold right at the compression fitting, where the tubing turns to meet the inlet. It still passes water, just not enough.
  3. Copper bent once too often. Work hardened tubing splits at the fold instead of closing, and the complaint becomes a damp floor.
  4. The shut off nudged part closed by the same push. Quickest thing on the list to check, and the one nobody expects.

Most often first. Order comes from what the visits keep turning up, not from a count.

When it happens

Floor work, a deep clean, a delivery, a remodel: anything that walks a built in cabinet out and back can trap the line. The damage is done in the last inches of travel, when nobody is watching the back. In a loft conversion the run disappears into finished work, so the tail behind the unit is the only length anyone can inspect.

What a half kink does

It does not stop the ice, it shrinks it. Sub-Zero’s own troubleshooting points at low water pressure when cubes come out small or hollow, and a squeezed tail starves a fill the same way a weak main would. Nothing on the control says a word about it.

Before you call

Two minutes, before anyone comes out

  1. Shine a torch down the back before anything is moved, and photograph the line.
  2. Confirm the shut off feeding this line is fully open, not cracked open.
  3. Empty the bin and see whether the next batch comes out short.

Stop there. If that has not settled it by the next morning, call Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts on (720) 903-2603 and the rest of the water path gets traced with a meter.
