The visit itself
Is the ice maker module repaired or replaced?
Replaced rather than rebuilt: when the head is genuinely at fault it is changed as a unit, not opened up on the kitchen floor. That step comes last, though. Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts proves the fill first — shut-off, filter, valve, fill tube — because a starved head behaves exactly like a dead one, and a new head fed a short fill goes on making the same poor ice.
Pattern
What we usually find
- Water arriving late, or not at all. Sub-Zero's own troubleshooting works through the settings and the water supply before it ever reaches the ice maker, and a visit follows the same order.
- A jammed cube or an iced fill tube holding the harvest mid-turn. The mechanism underneath is sound and starts moving again once the ice has gone.
- A bin sitting proud of its rails, or the shut-off arm resting on a mound of cubes, telling a perfectly good head that there is nowhere to put the next batch.
- The head itself: no harvest on a clean mould with a full fill. That is the one that gets a new unit, and it is one part rather than a rebuild.
Most often first. Order comes from what the visits keep turning up, not from a count.
Why the head is not opened up
Behind the moulded cover sit a motor, a gear train and the switching that decides when a harvest runs and when water is called for. They work as one mechanism, so a failure inside it is answered with a new unit rather than with a spare part off the bench.
What that leaves for the visit
Most of the time on an ice maker call goes on everything ahead of the head: the valve, the screen, the pressure behind them. Get that right and the head either runs, or has nothing left to blame.
Before you call
Two minutes, before anyone comes out
- Draw the bin out, clear any cubes wedged beside the ice maker, and slide it fully home.
- Switch the ice maker off, then on, and give it twenty-four hours before you judge it.
That is as far as an owner should take it. If what you find does not match this page, call Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts on (720) 903-2603 and the water path gets measured end to end.
