The visit itself
Do you repair commercial ice machines?
No — domestic Sub-Zero only. Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts works on the ice makers built into Sub-Zero refrigerators and on Sub-Zero undercounter ice machines in home kitchens, bars and pantries. A head-and-bin machine in a restaurant, a dispenser in a lobby or a cube machine behind a counter belongs to a different trade, and it is worth knowing that before a fee is paid.
Pattern
What we usually find
- A Sub-Zero undercounter ice machine in a house, described on the phone as an ice machine because that is what it is. Ours.
- The ice maker inside a built-in refrigerator, called an ice machine by an owner who wants ice rather than terminology. Also ours.
- A domestic ice maker of another make. Not this shop either, and better said at the first question than at the doorstep.
- A commercial cuber in a café, an office or a small hotel. Different duty, different plumbing, different parts channel — not a job taken here.
Most often first. Order comes from what the visits keep turning up, not from a count.
Why the line falls there
A domestic machine makes a batch, drops it into a bin and waits. A commercial cuber runs more or less continuously, is plumbed to a drain of its own, and is kept to a cleaning routine that food-service rules care about. The hardware, the service intervals and the spares all sit on the other side of that line.
If a commercial machine is what you have
Look for commercial refrigeration or food-service ice equipment rather than appliance repair, and mention the machine’s make and whether it is air or water cooled — it is the first thing that trade will ask.
