Filters and cartridges
Why will the filter light not reset?
Because there is no single reset. Sub-Zero publishes one procedure per control: on a Classic cabinet the filter reset button beside the cartridge is held for five seconds, Professional controls use a Refresh touch, some controls clear themselves on a swap, and the mobile app cannot do it at all. Denver Sub-Zero Repair Experts establishes which control is fitted first.
Pattern
What we usually find
- The right procedure applied to the wrong control. A five second hold does nothing on a touch screen, and there is no Refresh to touch on a cabinet with a button.
- A hold that was not long enough, or a finger that drifted off. It wants a steady five seconds, not a press and a hope.
- An attempt made through the mobile app, which Sub-Zero states cannot reset the filter monitor at all.
- A control answering nothing, not just this. When only the indicator is stuck the water side is fine; when the whole panel is dead, the control is the fault.
Most often first. Order comes from what the visits keep turning up, not from a count.
Match the procedure to the panel
Sub-Zero writes these instructions per control family rather than per model year, which is why a sequence copied off a forum so often does nothing. On a Classic cabinet the reset is a button next to the cartridge, held down. On a Professional control it is a Refresh touch that returns the life indicator to full.
When the indicator is not the problem
An indicator that will not clear after the correct procedure has become a control fault rather than a water fault. The ice keeps arriving, the dispenser keeps running, and what is wrong is a light. That makes it something you live with or something you book, but never a reason to buy a second cartridge.
Before you call
Two minutes, before anyone comes out
- Work out what is in front of you: a physical button, or a touch control.
- Hold a physical reset button steadily for a full five seconds, once.
- Confirm the new cartridge turned clockwise until it seated before expecting anything to clear.
